Campaign Launched in Traverse City to Defeat 25x25 Renewable Energy Proposal

Posted: Updated:

An issue on the November ballot has many in northern Michigan up in arms. The 25x25 proposal aims to make 25% of Michigan's energy renewable by 2025; it would become part of the state's constitution.

Those opposed met at the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce to launch a campaign to defeat the proposal. They argue making our state more energy efficient should not come in the form of a mandate, but a gradual process. Energy groups say the state already has a current goal that was approved in 2008 to create 10% renewable energy.
