Man Accused of Shooting Teen in Manistee County Could Spend Life in Prison

Posted: Updated:

Paul Hard is accused of shooting a 14-year-old girl in Manistee County.

Today, he learned it could land him in prison for life.

He faced a judge for the first time this morning -- now charged with assault with intent to murder.

Hard is being held in the Manistee County Jail on a million dollar bond.

Police say he shot a teenage girl multiple times on Sunday at her home in Cleon Township, near Copemish.

Officers say Hard took off after the shooting -- prompting a day-long manhunt.

They cornered him in a wooded area near Bear Lake yesterday.

He was arrested after crashing his Tahoe into an oil rig.

Fortunately, the teen is in stable condition in a downstate hospital.

This afternoon, our Evan Dean and PhotoJournalist Jake Johnson spoke with the neighbor who first came to the girl's rescue.

They have the story.
