Nationally Known Road Rally Treks Through Northern Michigan

Posted: Updated:

For the first time ever, a nationally known road rally will make its way through Northern Michigan!

The Great Race kicks off in Traverse City on Saturday morning.

From there, nearly 100 antique automobiles will trek 2300 miles through 19 cities in four states in two countries.

All of the cars are 1969 or older, so the race is not based on speed but on pace and precision.

The oldest car in this year's competition is a 1907 Vernault.

Alex Jokich and Stephanie Adkins were live in at the Holiday Inn West Bay on Friday morning with a preview of the nine-day road rally.

(The Great Race begins around 10am on Saturday, travels to St. Ignace and stops for the night in Sault Ste. Marie.  Sault Ste. Marie is planning a night full of food, music and festivities for the racers and the public.  For more information on the race or to check out the rest of the route, click on the link posted on the left.)
