Historical Ship Keewatin is Heading Home

Posted: Updated:

About 2 weeks ago we showed you the historical last trip of the S.S. Keewatin as it went under the Mackinac Bridge and docked in Mackinaw City for the last time.

Now, this historic ship is on her way, again.

These pictures are taken from the tug "The Wendy Anne" from St. James Marine on Beaver Island.

They are towing the Keewatin from Saugatuck, where she was a museum ship for 45 years, to Port McNicoll, Ontario where she will be "going home."

The crew of the Wendy Anne say they are making such great time they will have to drop anchor outside of Giants Tomb, Canada so they can deliver her precisely at 2:00 Saturday.

She'll be greeted by a crowd of thousands at Port McNicholl, including the Canadian prime minister.
