Feedback at 5:00- Calorie Counting at Restaurants

Posted: Updated:

America's biggest pizza chains are starting a food fight with government regulators over proposed nutrition rules.

About 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. every year, in fact it is one of the top ten sources of calories in the average American's diet.

The Food and Drug Administration wants Americans to know that, and want restaurant chains with more than 20 stores to post their calorie content on menu boards.

The industry says they aren't trying to avoid calorie labeling. They just want different options, such as posting information online, and in handheld menus at stores.
