Reed City is laying off six teachers and cutting some support staff.
The school board signed off on the cuts Monday night by approving a new budget.
The board voted to cut two teachers from each school. They also eliminated several members of the support staff including two paraprofessionals.
The vice president of the school board was the only person who voted against the budget. He said he disagrees with it because it gave the superintendent a $20,000 raise in exchange for taking over the responsibilities of high school principal.
Superintendent Steven Westhoff would not comment on the story.
