BIG RAPIDS - The Ferris State women's basketball program is coming off one of its most successful seasons.  Today they introduced one of the most successful high school girls basketball coaches in the state.

Colleen Lamoreaux-Tate has won about 85 percent of her games during her 17 seasons as a Varsity Head Coach for East Grand Rapids then Grand Rapids Catholic Central.  She led the Cougars to a Class B State Title in 2010.

Lamoreaux-Tate said that she has always dreamed about coaching at the collegiate level, and while she's had previous opportunities, this job was the right time and the right fit.

The new coach talked about the importance of recruiting and having more athletes from the state of Michigan on the roster.  She also talked to 9&10 News about her Northern Michigan connections.  Lamoreaux-Tate played with St. Ignace LaSalle girls basketball coach Dorene Ingalls at Lake Superior State University.  She also played for current Traverse City West Athletic Director Patti Tibaldi when Tibaldi was the Head Coach at Aquinas College.
