Chuck Korn is Garfield Township's Supervisor, he also serves on the Metro Fire board. He's seen the same proposal to combine Metro and City Fire Departments before.
City Commissioner Jim Carruthers tells us since the proposal is still in the works, it's unclear whether City Fire would be eliminated altogether, but layoffs are a strong possibility. The Firefighter's Union is against the changes, their biggest fear is job loss.
Both sides agree, they're in the business of saving lives and property, and that's the ultimate goal.
