State Commission Denies Annexation Request

Posted: Updated:

We have an update on the proposed annexation of more than 200 acres of land into the City of Cadillac.

On Wednesday, the State Boundary Commission voted against annexing the property on the southeast corner of US-131 and M-55.

The people who own the property want it to become part of the city so they can hook into the sewer and water system and construct a retail development. The developers want the decision to be reversed. They say many businesses are already interested and the project will bring jobs to the area.

The commission still has to finalize its decision at the next meeting in August. After that the director of licensing and regulatory affairs would review the decision.
