National Weather Service Reports Tornado Touchdown in Upper Peninsula

A rare sight in the Upper Peninsula, the National Weather Service says a tornado touched down in Marquette County.

The small twister formed Friday in the northwest part of Marquette County, no one was hurt.

The weather service estimates the tornado traveled as far as 8 miles and was as wide as 200 feet.

There is some damage, mostly to and included the Eagle Mine Site.

The UP typically sees 1 tornado each year.
