UPDATE: Crews Recover Body of Lake Mitchell Drowning Victim

Posted: Updated:

After days of searching, a person out on Lake Mitchell led crews to the body of a drowning victim.

Kenneth Coty, from Merrill, was found on the south shore of the lake in Wexford County.

The victim was recovered near the area where he was believed to have last been seen when he disappeared Friday afternoon.

Officers say Coty jumped into the water to save his 2 1/2 year-old son after the boy fell overboard.

The man was wearing steel-toed boots, and strong winds made it difficult for him to swim. He was not able to reach the life jacket that was thrown to him.

Kenneth's family wants everyone to remember that his final act was a heroic one.
