Powerful Fire Destroys Shelby Businesses

A powerful overnight fire left four Oceana County businesses in shambles -- now reduced to charred piles of rubble.

The community of Shelby is now left without some of its favorite places.

Crews responded to a fire just before eleven last night in the downtown district.

Flames consumed the businesses, connected as part of a century-old building.

A couple of popular local hang-outs -- The Pizza Factory and the Other End Sports Bar -- are now gone.

Flames also consumed a photography studio, laundromat, and apartments upstairs.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue a man trapped in his apartment above the businesses.

But fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire.

Now despite the loss, it's not a story of despair.

Whether it's a hug, a prayer, or even more... the community of Shelby is coming together during this difficult time.
