Nearly a year after the discovery of Carly Lewis' body- family, friends and community members came out to celebrate her today.
The opening of Carly's Playground, a disc golf course at Mt. Holiday ski resort was celebrated this afternoon.
Carly loved to disc golf with friends.
The center piece to the outdoor event was a large pink bench made in Carly's memory.
Carly's love of animals and music were also major parts of the day.
Her family says the past year has been tough, but they hope for today's event to bring some closure.
Lewis was killed last June- she was 16-years-old when she went missing. Her body was found in a Public Works yard. Traverse City teen Robert Jenson Schwander is currently serving 40 years for the crime.
