Legacy Lives On After Montmorency County Woman Dies In Accident

Posted: Updated:

Kara Cassisi's love for animals started at an early age, and even after her death, that passion continues in Montmorency County.

Cassisi died April 30th after the pick-up truck she was riding in crashed in Lewiston.

The investigation into that accident continues, and the prosecutor is still waiting on a final report before determining if there will be any charges against the driver.

Cassisi's family asked that donations made in her name go toward the Elk Country Animal Shelter, in Atlanta.

Donations so far have added up to more than $1,200.

The shelter presented the family with a plaque in Cassisi's honor.

The plaque will hang in the shelter, and Cassisi's mother, Renee Rustile hopes it can be a reminder for people to give back.

9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have more details on the effort to keep Cassisi's memory alive.
