Blueberries Thriving Despite the Dangerous Spring Frosts

The wild spring weather devastated fruit crops across Northern Michigan's agriculture business but not all is lost.

It looks as if the blueberry crop survived the frost and may actually improve on last year's numbers.

Blueberries tend to blossom after both cherries and apples but farmers say their fruit survived on sheer luck.

It had nothing to do with their hard work or the strength of the blueberry, just good timing.

Usually blueberry harvest begins in mid-July but Ron Rhynard says he expects to start picking about two weeks earlier.
