Six Recent Meth Lab Discoveries in Northern Michigan Keeping Michigan State Police on High Alert

Posted: Updated:

First Lieutenant Patrick Boyd is on the front lines in the fight against meth. He oversees several drug teams in our region for the Michigan State Police. In the last month alone, meth labs have been uncovered in six northern Michigan counties.

One home was in Osceola County; Traverse Area Narcotics found an active one-pot meth lab. Back in May, a man's truck exploded in Montcalm County because of the meth mixture.

Ingredients are things you'd typically find in you home, but people cooking meth actually put those chemicals into their body.

So, why the sudden jump in the use of the drug? Police say it's because meth is inexpensive, and people can make it themselves.

The only way to put a stop to the trend is to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
