UPDATE: Certain Duck Lake Fire Evacuees Can Return Home Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Update: Evacuees impacted by the Duck Lake Fire in Luce County will be able to return home, Saturday, June 2.

The DNR says people who live in the Pike Lake, Bodi Lake, Little Lake Harbor and Culhane Lake areas will be able to check in at County Road 500 and M-123 between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., Saturday.

These people must have proof of residency.

The DNR says the fire is still active, and even after tomorrow, the area is still subject to evacuation if the fire takes a turn.

The DNR reports the more than 21-thousand acre Duck Lake Fire is now 63-percent contained.

An evacuation remains in effect for the area from Pike Lake east to County Road 500 and north to Little Lake Harbor.

DNR said they expect to make an announcement later today about when residents can return back to their properties.

No new structures have been lost in the fire.

Governor Snyder and Senator Stabenow visited the fire area last night and talked to residents who lost structures from the fire.
