Detroit Red Wings Legend Retired After 20 Seasons

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom retired today.

Lidstrom made the announcement Thursday.

He was a four-time Stanley Cup champion and seven-time Norris Trophy winner.

The 42-year-old Lidstrom played for the Red Wings all 20 seasons of his career and set an NHL record by playing 1,564 games with one team.

Lidstrom was named the NHL's best defenseman last year for a 7th time.
