Traverse City Affordable Housing Project Gets Approval From Commissioners

Posted: Updated:

City Commissioner, Jim Carruthers, says there's people who would like to live in Traverse City, but just can't afford a hefty price tag.

Now, the City Commission gave Habitat for Humanity and HomeStretch the green light to break ground on something a little more affordable. The non-profits bought the depot property for nearly $300,000, the plan is to build 23 units there.

The work will start in just a few months in hopes of giving many families somewhere to call home.
