Cadillac Memorial Day Parade Starts New Tradition for Veterans

Posted: Updated:

Memorial Day is coming up this weekend and one local town made a special change to its annual event.

Cadillac is calling on all local veterans to come out and walk in this year's parade.

They're hoping the rest of the town comes up to watch and support.

Organizers say it's been many years since veterans have been directly involved in the Memorial Day Parade, and they're looking forward to starting this new tradition.

Alex Jokich, Corey and Stephanie Adkins were live at the Veterans' Memorial in Cadillac on Friday morning with a preview.

(If you are a veteran and would like to walk in the parade, meet at the Shay Locomotive by the Cadillac City Park, no later than 9:30am.  For any veteran unable to walk the parade route, arrangements can be made to ride on a CWTA Bus by calling (231) 775-9411 or (866) 647-5465.  The Memorial Day Parade begins at 10am.  A memorial service will follow the parade at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.  If you have any questions, email Jerry Benson at jbenson43@gmail.com )
