Tuesday 3:30 pm update: A 9&10 News crew just got out of a press conference about the ongoing manhunt. The police said that they are still searching the wooded areas that the suspect was last seen running towards. The perimeter is 5 miles across from east to west. The police did mention that there is a lot of ground to cover since the territory is highly wooded. They haven't been receiving many tips, which makes them think that the suspect is still inside the perimeter.

Police continue to search for an armed fugitive.

Everett Robinson has been on the run for more than 24 hours.

It's been a frustrating and fruitless search in Roscommon County.

Yesterday morning, an Arenac County deputy picked Robinson up from the Roscommon County jail to take him to Standish for the court appearance on a home invasion charge.

Police say Robinson came through an opening in the partition separating the front and back of the cop car, assaulting the deputy and getting a hold of his gun.The sheriff says Robinson stole the police car and took off. Another officer a few miles down the road noticed the stolen cruiser and saw Robinson ditch the car and run into the woods.

Police have been searching with canine units and are even using a helicopter to search from the air.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect is a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 220 pounds, brown hair and hazel eyes and was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Police have closed M-55 between 187 and I-75 East of Prudenville in Backus Township, while they search.

Police have set up a tip line for the escaped inmate, you're asked to call 877-616-4677 if you have any information.
