Posted: Updated:

A more than 1,400 acre wildfire in Oscoda County is out after fire crews worked through the night.

Some people evacuated from their homes Wednesday evening are still not being allowed back.

Firefighters remain at the site of the Mack Lake Fire to make sure the it does not reignite.

Homeowners and families in 50 homes had to be evacuated. Some were allowed to return home. The fire burned quickly but remarkably no homes were lost and no one was hurt.

The U.S. Forest Service says because fire conditions have not improved, the evacuations will remain in effect through Friday. They will reevaluate conditions then.

Police found where the fire started and say it was human caused but they still do not know exactly how it started.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and photojournalist Jacob Johnson spoke to evacuees and have more on the damage.
