Upcoming Security Changes At Michigan Prisons

Posted: Updated:

Security changes are coming soon to prisons across the state, and those in northern Michigan are not exempt.

Starting Sunday, perimeter patrols will not be out as often.

Instead of making the rounds non-stop, they will be more random.

The security changes will save the state $13.2 million a year.

The Department of Corrections says security and technology enhancements over the past several years will give them the same level of perimeter security.

The Michigan Corrections Organization, however, isn't so sure.

9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have more on the upcoming change.
