A Cutter Is Assisting A Ferry Boat That Is Surrounded By Ice

8:30 PM: The Ferryboat Huron made it safely back to shore with the help of the Coast Guard.

 

4:40 PM: The Coast Guard is sending a cutter to assist a ferry boat that is stuck in ice near Mackinac Island.

The Ferryboat Huron is an Arnold Transit ferry boat and is unable to move through ice.

A little before 5 pm, the ferry was surrounded by flowing ice with 68 passengers on board.

An ice cutter is in the process of helping the ferry out of the ice.
