Volunteers Experience Low-Income Living During Poverty Simulation

Volunteers had a chance to experience a life in poverty, Friday, in Petoskey.

They took part in a poverty simulation where they learned what it's like to live on low-income for a month.

The made-up families played different roles based on real life experiences of families in poverty.

They interacted with volunteer human service organizations, grocers, bill collectors, job interviewers, police officers, pawn brokers and others.

The point of the activity was to raise awareness and to highlight the difficulties people in our communities face.
