CMU Research Team Works to Advance Battery Technology

Posted: Updated:

A group of scientists at Central Michigan University are working to make the world a more powerful and efficient place.

For the past few years three scientists at the Mt. Pleasant university have been developing stronger, more efficient batteries to drive electric cars.

Dr. Valeri Petkov and his team are working to build on the technology used in the Chevy Volt's lithium ion batteries to make them stronger yet hopefully cheaper.

Their work will eventually lead to breakthrough's in all sorts of batteries not just those used in the electric cars.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Tony Zyber took a tour through the research labs and have more details.
