Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Inspires Local Students to Donate to Needy Families Overseas

Posted: Updated:

This retired U.S. Air Force Colonel has done as much to serve people in other countries, as he has his own. He's been overseas more than 50 times. When he saw people in Afghanistan and India who needed help, he started packing his own bag with goods.

Now, St. Mary's in Lake Leelanau has started a fundraiser to follow in the Colonel's footsteps. Students are also raising $2,012 in 2012. The students aren't wasting any time getting started on their fundraiser. They're hoping to gather all of the clothes for children overseas by the end of February.

Because of the Colonel's inspiring message, students at the school can't wait to get started on making a difference.

The donation project is open to anyone. To find out how you can donate, visit: www.stmarysll.org
