Tennessee State overtakes Central Michigan 65-57

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Robert Covington scored 19 points and Tennessee State rallied from a 13-point deficit to beat Central Michigan 65-57 on Saturday.

The Tigers (4-6) trailed 24-11 with 4:47 to go until halftime, then used a 35-4 run spanning both halves to lead 46-28 with 14:15 to play.

The Chippewas (4-4) got within five, at 53-48 with 4:26 remaining, on a Derek Jackson 3-pointer. Wil Peters hit two free throws and Patrick Miller converted a three-point play with 3:16 to go to pad Tennessee State's lead.

The Tigers hit 17 of 24 free throws for the game while Western Michigan made only 4 of 8.

Covington, a junior, reached double digits for the 50th time in his career. Miller added 11 points and Kellen Thornton 10 for the Tigers, who snapped a two-game skid.

Trey Zeigler's 17 points paced the Chippewas, who have lost two straight, while Andre Coimbra added 14 points.
