Inspired by the real-life story of research medium Allison DuBois, Patricia Arquette stars as the strong-willed, devoted wife and mother who has gradually come to grips with her extraordinary abilities. These include talking to the dead, seeing current events and the future through dreams, and reading people's thoughts. Her husband, Joe (Jake Weber), an aerospace engineer, is a supportive husband and father who is launching his own scientific engineering company. Amazingly, their daughters all seem to have inherited their mother’s abilities to varying degrees.
