PARKLAND, Wash. The county sheriff likens the attack to an execution, but one of the officers may have managed to wound the gunman.

KABUL (AP) — A rogue policeman reportedly opened fire on colleagues at a checkpoint in southwest Afghanistan. An Afghan official says six national policemen were killed and two others were injured. The suspect initially escaped but was later killed in a gun battle.

WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) — Tiger Woods says he's embarrassed and done talking about his car crash early Friday morning. In a statement on his Web site, Woods says the situation was his fault and vowed it won't happen again. He's calling rumors of marital problems "unfounded and malicious."

NOVATO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Northern California say a teen driving a Mini Cooper ran a red light late last night and slammed into a minivan killing a family of four from Sonoma. The teen is listed in critical condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The highway patrol says there's no evidence of drugs or alcohol right now.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Anyone planning to buy their true love everything mentioned in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" will need more than $87,000 this year. But that's an increase of less than one percent over last year. PNC Wealth Management says lower energy costs and wage increases kept its "Christmas Price Index" from rising higher.
