Pressure for mortgage relief...Tiger's crash...Climate change help

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration plans to increase pressure on mortgage companies to do more to help people remain in their homes. The Treasury Department says the new steps are aimed at increasing the rate at which troubled loans are being converted into loans with lower monthly payments.

WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) — How and why Tiger Woods crashed his SUV into a fire hydrant and a neighbor's tree early Friday morning remains a mystery. Police tried to speak with Woods about the incident again today but were asked to wait until Sunday. Police have said Woods' wife smashed the vehicle's back window with a golf club to help get him out.

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) — Leaders of the 53 Commonwealth countries are calling for a "legally binding" climate change agreement at next month's global summit in Copenhagen. They're also calling for the creation of a global fund of up to $10 billion a year to help poor countries meet the mandates.

NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) — There's been a deadly highway crash in Louisiana. State police say a minivan packed with children blew a tire, then clipped a delivery truck and rolled. At least five people were killed, including four who were thrown from the vehicle. Another 10 were critically injured.

PHOENIX (AP) — Sen. John McCain's former home is scheduled to be auctioned next week. KNXV-TV reports the two-acre Phoenix property has been appraised at more than $12 million. The auctioneers say bidding will start at $5.9 million.
