Posted: 11/28/2009

WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says it's unusual not to have gotten a statement yet. The incident in question is Tiger Woods' SUV accident early yesterday morning that sent him to the hospital briefly. Officers were turned away when they tried to meet Woods at his home and asked to return tomorrow. The highway patrol says he's not required to talk to troopers, but they do need his driver's license, insurance and registration.

UGLOVKA, Russia (AP) — Russian authorities say a deadly train derailment last night was the result of a terrorist attack. At least 26 people were killed when a homemade bomb blew the high-speed Moscow-to-St. Petersburg train off its tracks. Officials say 18 people remain missing.

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey officials say a man chased down and shot his wife and their two young sons — killing one boy — before he was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer. The wife and her surviving son are hospitalized in critical condition.

CHICAGO (AP) — Retail analysts say early sales figures show the holiday shopping season is off to a strong start, even though the numbers are not dramatically higher than last year. The research firm ShopperTrak says shoppers spent just 0.5 percent more than last year, but it looks like they may be willing to spend more freely this year.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of a key House panel says he want a review of Secret Service practices after a Virginia couple was able to crash Tuesday's White House state dinner. Rep. Edolphus Towns says the incident "compromised the safety and security of the president" and undermined the nation's confidence in the agency.
