A Northern Michigan jail was awarded for a job well done.
The sheriff says it's all thanks to the dedicated staff.
The Michigan Department of Corrections recognized the Montmorency County jail for being in full compliance with state rules.
An inspector comes in once a year to be sure the jail is operating up to standard.
They check for proper paperwork, cleanliness of the jail, security and more.
The sheriff says the jail hasn't always gotten the award, so it's nice to be recognized for their hard work.
The jail can hold up to 40 inmates, but lately they've only housed around 20.
