WASHINGTON (AP) — British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says 10 NATO nations are ready to offer about 5,000 more troops to serve in Afghanistan. Brown didn't identify the countries. President Barack Obama is expected to say Tuesday that the U.S. is sending tens of thousands more forces.

KABUL (AP) — A helicopter belonging to a military contractor has been missing since Tuesday in Afghanistan. Officials say the chopper belongs to Virginia-based Supreme Global Service Solutions, which supplies food and other services. There's no word on how many people were aboard.

HILLSIDE, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez is downplaying any concern about a possible challenge from former CNN host Lou Dobbs. A spokesman says Dobbs is seriously thinking about running for the Senate in 2012 as a stepping stone to the White House. Asked for a reaction, Menendez says he's "concentrated on jobs, not Dobbs."

NEW YORK (AP) — An activist group has begun online posting of 573,000 pager messages purportedly sent on Sept. 11. The group, Wikileaks, says some of the messages were sent by officials, but some appear to be from people trying to reach loved ones in and around the World Trade Center.

GENEVA (AP) — A court in Switzerland has granted Roman Polanski $4.5 million bail. The fugitive director is apparently days away from being placed in house arrest and under electronic monitoring at his Alpine resort chalet. Polanski is wanted in the U.S. after pleading guilty to unlawful sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old.
