CMS Land, the company responsible for cleaning East Park in Emmet County applied for a state permit to treat and release water into Little Traverse Bay.

The park is located on the site of an old limestone quarry and cement factory.

There is leachate underground and the company has been working to keep it out of the bay.

They currently collect the water on-site and take it to licensed sites in Johannesburg and Traverse City.

They applied to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to dilute the water on-site and dispose of it in the bay.
