Health care measure...Burris move...Guilty pleas

WASHINGTON (AP) — A crucial Senate test vote is set tomorrow night on a nearly $1 trillion, 10-year health care overhaul bill. The measure would extend coverage to millions of uninsured Americans, and use more than $400 billion in Medicare cuts to help cover costs. The weekend vote decides whether the bill moves forward for debate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate ethics committee has admonished Illinois Sen. Roland Burris. The panel says Burris made "inconsistent, misleading or incomplete" statements about the events surrounding his appointment by then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich (bluh-GOY'-uh-vich). The governor was later driven from office after being accused of trying to sell the Senate seat.

WASHINGTON (AP) — There's word of guilty pleas in the case of an American couple accused in a decades-long plot to spy for Cuba. The retired State Department worker and his wife were caught in an undercover FBI sting. U.S. authorities say the couple delivered government secrets to Cuban agents by swapping carts at a grocery store, among other methods.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The attorney for a 15-year-old accused of killing a Missouri girl says his client should be sent to a psychiatric hospital. The teen has been in jail since being indicted Wednesday on first-degree murder and other charges. She's accused of strangling and stabbing a 9-year-old girl last month to see what it felt like.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears' ex-boyfriend has been sentenced to jail for 45 days for leaving the scene of an accident. Adnan Ghalib has pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of an accident that injured a man trying to serve him with a restraining order. The order was sought by Spears' father and was eventually granted.
