Posted: 11/18/2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — To those who fear that a federal civilian trial will give Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (HAH'-leed shayk moh-HAH'-med) a chance to spout hateful rhetoric, Attorney General Eric Holder says not to worry. He told a Senate panel today that any words from the professed 9/11 planner in court will just make him look worse. He was defending his decision to bring Mohammed and four others to New York for trial.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The last stop on President Barack Obama's week-long Asian journey is South Korea. During talks tomorrow with that country's president, he's expected to focus on efforts to get North Korea to drop its nuclear weapons program. But trade remains a sticking point. A free trade deal signed by the U.S. and South Korea under previous leaders is stalled in Congress.

BEIJING (AP) — President Barack Obama confirms to CNN that he met for "about five minutes" during his China trip with a half brother who lives in China. The White House hadn't said ahead of time whether they would get together. The half-brother recently wrote a semi-autobiographical novel about the abusive Kenyan father that he and Obama shared.

PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — There's anger in northwestern Pakistan over an army shell that accidentally killed six civilians. It was intended for a militant hide-out. A local resident who took part in a protest afterward says demonstrators chanted against the killings of innocent people.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri grand jury has indicted a 15-year-old girl on a charge of first-degree murder in the slaying of her 9-year-old neighbor. The indictment came hours after a judge ruled that Alyssa Bustamante should stand trial as an adult. She's being held without bond.
