SOUTH HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a 38-year-old Battle Creek-area woman led police on a high-speed chase at speeds topping 100 mph.

Michigan State Police said the chase started in Battle Creek around 8:25 p.m. Sunday and ended when the woman crashed the vehicle near South Haven.

Sgt. Victor Pierce of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office tells The Kalamazoo Gazette that deputies originally responded to a report of an intoxicated and suicidal woman who was threatening to harm herself and her boyfriend with a razor blade.

Police said the woman fled in a car and led them on a chase along Interstate 94 that also traveled through Kalamazoo County and Van Buren counties.

Michigan State Police said the woman was arrested in South Haven Township. Her condition was not immediately known.
