SINGAPORE (AP) — President Barack Obama is headed for China after attending a summit in Singapore with Asia-Pacific leaders. There, he announced "excellent" progress on a replacement treaty with Russia to reduce nuclear arms. And he tempered hopes for a binding, global agreement on climate change during a meeting next month in Copenhagen. In China, he'll field questions from university students.

SINGAPORE (AP) — In an unusual face-to-face meeting, President Barack Obama has told the top leader of Myanmar's ruling military to free pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi (ahng sahn soo chee). White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says Obama also called on Myanmar to end oppression of minorities at a Singapore summit with leaders of 10 Southeast Asian nations. A joint statement issued after the summit didn't call for the political prisoner's release, but urged Myanmar to ensure upcoming elections are free and fair.

WASHINGTON (AP) — It appears President Barack Obama has failed to persuade Congress to hold off any investigation into the Fort Hood rampage until federal law enforcement and military authorities have completed their probes. Lawmakers in both chambers have said they plan to move ahead with their hearings into the shootings. During his Saturday address Obama said those who died deserve justice, not political stagecraft.

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) — Honduras' ousted president is insisting he won't accept any deal to restore him to office if it means he'll have to recognize elections in two weeks' time. Reading from a letter he wrote to President Barack Obama on Globo radio, Manuel Zelaya accused Washington of changing its position on Honduras.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina police say the mother of a missing 5-year-old girl is facing a human trafficking charge, and a charge of filing a false police report. It's not clear if the charges stem from Shaniya (shuh-'NY-uh) Davis' disappearance. Shaniya's mother reported her missing Tuesday. A man believed to be on surveillance video carrying the girl has been charged with kidnapping.
