Mackinac County Hit and Run Case Bound Over to Circuit Court
Posted: 11/13/2009

Today, Friday, a Mackinac County judge determined there is enough evidence to move the case against hit and run suspect, Dustan Bowen to Circuit Court.

Bowen is facing 16 felonies, including second-degree murder. Police say last July his SUV crossed the center line and hit a group of people from a family reunion walking along the shoulder of the Gould City Road in Newton Township.

Police say he hit ten people, killing three of them and two dogs.

He was driving on a restricted license at the time of the crash.

Michelle Glinn, a doctor with the Michigan State Crime Lab testified a blood sample of Bowen's taken after the crash indicated he had five prescription drugs in his system.

She says combined, these medications could cause a delayed reaction time.

The defense argued there is no way of telling whether Bowen took the medication before or after the accident.

At the end of the day, the judge decided to move the case to Circuit Court with all 16 charges, including second-degree murder.
