ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — A day after honoring the 13 victims of the shootings at Fort Hood, Texas, President Barack Obama has marked Veterans Day by placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery. The president stood silently, with his hand on his heart, as a bugler sounded taps.

CHICAGO (AP) — An officer who has been hailed as a hero in the Fort Hood massacre says the scene was "confusing and chaotic." Sgt. Kimberly Munley was one of two civilian police officers who confronted the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at the Texas military base last week. She was interviewed on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

WASHINGTON (AP) — A majority of Americans in a new survey say they still approve of the job President Barack Obama is doing. However the latest AP-GfK poll suggests Americans have a gloomier view of the direction of the country. And it indicates there's sliding support for Obama's handling of Iraq and Afghanistan, the economy and efforts to get health care reform passed by Congress.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says the latest skirmish between North and South Korea won't deter the U.S. from working toward resolving disputes over the North's nuclear weapons program. Clinton's message comes after the navies of the two countries exchanged gunfire in a crab-fishing area off the west coast.

LONDON (AP) — A new report by UNICEF says nearly 200 million children in poor countries have stunted growth because they don't get enough to eat. The United Nations organization says 90 percent of all children with stunted growth live in Asia and Africa.
