Posted: 11/11/2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama meets with his national security team today to discuss four options for U.S. strategy in Afghanistan. Military officials say Obama is considering adding tens of thousands more forces to Afghanistan, though a spokesman says no final decision has been made.

KABUL (AP) — An official says a suicide bomber has detonated his explosives near a NATO military convoy in Afghanistan. He says the blast killed a man and a woman and wounded three passers-by. There's also word that military divers have found the body of one of two U.S. soldiers missing since last week.

KILLEEN, Texas (AP) — It promises to be an especially somber Veterans Day at Fort Hood, Texas, the scene of last week's shooting rampage. Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, Fort Hood's commanding general, is calling on the post to dedicate itself to the memories of the 13 people killed.

PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — In Pakistan, authorities say 10 suspected militants are dead after helicopter gunships shelled militant hideouts near the Afghan border. The operation followed an attack on a nearby security checkpoint that killed two paramilitary troops.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson's private funeral was fit for a king and had a price tag to match: roughly $1 million. That's according to court documents that detail an array of costs, including about $12,000 for programs and invitations and $35,000 for burial garments.
