Photos detailing parts of Wexford County's history are going digital.

The Wexford County Historical Society is in the process of saving thousands of photographs from its museum collections.

They're scanning them and storing the originals in acid free tissues and containers.

The goal is to let people check out the pictures either in the museum or online without damaging the originals.

Over the last year, they've scanned more than 650 photos, many dating back to the 1870's.
