Meanwhile, personnel at Fort Hood are continuing the effort to return to normal operations at the Texas base. As for the suspect, he's listed in critical but stable condition.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are sharply higher on Wall Street after a weekend meeting of world financial leaders raised hopes for the economy. Stocks also got a lift Saturday night as the House approved the health care reform bill.

BERLIN (AP) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel has joined former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and other luminaries at what was once a fortified border crossing. She's been retracing the steps she took on the night 20 years ago that the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel, who grew up in East Germany, thanked Gorbachev for making change possible.
