More than 100 shots, vigil...Democrats securing health care votes

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — An official at Fort Hood, Texas, says the suspect who allegedly carried out yesterday's mass shooting likely fired more than 100 shots from weapons he obtained locally. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan has been transported to an Army hospital in San Antonio, where he was said earlier to be in a coma. There have been 13 deaths and 23 people remain hospitalized, about half of them in ICU.

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — The dead and wounded are on the minds of many at the Army's Fort Hood. Hundreds gathered at a stadium at the sprawling Texas Army post tonight. A chaplain encouraged the crowd to "keep breathing...keep going."

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Orlando say a man suspected of opening fire at his former workplace believed the company interfered with his unemployment benefits. Jason Rodriguez was arrested for allegedly killing one person and wounding five others at a downtown engineering firm.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Authorities in North Dakota say autopsy results show drowning caused the death of three college softball players. Their bodies were found inside a sport utility vehicle that sank in a rural farm pond. Investigators believe the Dickinson State students were on a stargazing trip.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says Democrats are "very close" to getting the votes needed to pass sweeping health care reform legislation. Hoyer says a vote that had been scheduled for tomorrow may have to be pushed back a day or two.
