BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) — A federal judge has ordered prison sentences for the last of seven men convicted of working at a marijuana camp in a remote area of Michigan's Gladwin County.
Authorities last year harvested 4,000 pot plants worth $4 million after a tip from a hunter. They also discovered 100 pounds of flour, cooking oil, a tortilla press and instant noodles — enough to feed seven people for a week.
A federal judge in Bay City sentenced Erik Nevarez to 20 years in prison this week. His lawyer says he worked less than a week at the camp, but his punishment jumped because of his criminal record. David Tinoco got a 10-year sentence.
Five other defendants sentenced last summer each received three years in prison.
