FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — Investigators have been examining the computer, home and even garbage of the Army psychiatrist suspected of killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, yesterday. The suspect's cousin says relatives have been interviewed by the FBI. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was shot four times and is said to be in a coma.
KILLEEN, Texas (AP) — Police officials say a civilian police officer is being credited for taking on the suspect in the mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. Authorities say Sgt. Kimberly Munley spotted the suspect after arriving on the scene and opened fire, allowing officers to take him into custody. Munley, who was shot in the thighs and wrist, is recovering. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has spent nearly two hours visiting wounded U.S. soldiers at the Army's Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. The president met with soldiers, families and hospital staff. He also awarded two Purple Hearts. The White House says the hospital visit was planned before the Fort Hood shootings. ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A former employee is suspected of shooting up an engineering firm at an office tower in Orlando. One person was killed and five were injured. The suspect surrendered a few hours later at his mother's home. WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — Actor James Woods has sued a Rhode Island hospital over the 2006 death of his younger brother. Woods says he wants "justice" for his brother, Michael, who was 49 when he died at Kent Hospital in Warwick of what was believed to be a heart attack. Woods alleges his brother received negligent medical care.
