WASHINGTON (AP) — The base commander at Texas' Fort Hood says survivors of yesterday's shooting rampage have told him the gunman opened fire in "a very calm and measured approach." Lt. Gen. Thirteen people were killed and 30 more injured in the shooting.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Troubling details have begun to emerge about the man suspected in the Fort Hood shootings that left 13 dead and 30 wounded. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's name appears on radical Internet postings, but it's not certain it's him. A fellow officer says Hasan fought his deployment to Iraq. He also apparently required counseling as a medical student because of problems with patients. WASHINGTON (AP) — The first big health care overhaul bill is set for a vote in the House tomorrow. Ahead of that, House Democrats are scrambling to secure enough support to pass their plan, working to soothe last-minute concerns from rank-and-file Democrats. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says they'll have the votes. WASHINGTON (AP) — The economy may be showing signs of a rebound but not in job creation. The Labor Department reports October figures this morning and they're expected to show a 9.9 percent unemployment rate, up from 9.8 in September. Employers aren't expected to start adding jobs for several more months. MILWAUKEE (AP) — A 38-year-old man with a criminal record is under arrest in a swine flu vaccine theft and police say they're looking for two others. The suspect is accused of stealing a truck carrying 900 doses of swine flu vaccine. Police say the two other men were in the truck with him. Those vaccine doses are now useless.
