HOWELL, Mich. (AP) — Two men have been found guilty of beating and robbing a then-83-year-old World War II in his Livingston County home.
Jurors in Livingston County Circuit Court on Thursday convicted 37-year-old Harry Riley of Ohio and 33-year-old Noah Richard Lovell III of Plainwell of armed robbery, first-degree home invasion, unlawful imprisonment and torture.
Authorities say John Pickett, now 84, was bound with duct tape and beaten during the Oct. 29, 2008 incident in Genoa Township, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.
The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus reports Riley's attorney, Mark Scharrer, argued Riley was "misidentified." Lovell's lawyer, Robbie Lang, argued police and prosecutors had a "theory" not backed up by many facts.
