WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is trumpeting endorsements from the American Medical Association and AARP for his health overhaul push. House Democratic leaders, meanwhile, are heading toward a Saturday vote on far-reaching legislation remaking the U.S. health care system.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Thousands of conservatives are rallying at the U.S. Capitol against the Democrats' health care overhaul plan. House Republican leader John Boehner (BAY'-nur) calls the measure "the greatest threat to freedom" he has ever seen.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress is sending President Barack Obama legislation to expand a popular homebuyers tax credit and extend unemployment benefits. With an overwhelming House vote, Congress has completed work on the $24 billion economic package.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A man once touted as a possible Homeland Security chief has cut a deal with prosecutors. Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik (KEHR'-ihk) could go to prison for about 2 1/2 years after pleading guilty today to lying to the White House and to tax crimes.

NEW YORK (AP) — Federal prosecutors say criminal charges have been filed against 14 people in a widening $53 million insider trading case. That brings to 20 the number of people charged in the case.
